Cheese, there is no other food quite like it. From soft creamy fresh cheeses to hard mature cheddars and everything inbetween, there is something for everyone. So why not say cheese please this week and try one of these fabulous cheese dishes from the #CookBlogShare community.
February has been a busy and fun month for me. On the blogging front, I have been working behind the scenes like many bloggers at this slow traffic time, on site maintenance, updating and general housekeeping to keep the blog ticking over nicely. I have also been working behind the scenes on Only Crumbs Remain and had hoped this would be my big announcement but its looking like another week before I can share my first post on the site, so maybe next time.
As the day this post is published is Shrove Tuesday, I updated my How to Make Pancakes post and made a little video for it, as well as published one new sweet (Crepes Suzette) and one new savoury pancake recipe (Pancakes with salmon and broccoli).
I also took a week off from the blog to attend my nephew Michael's wedding. He got married to the lovely Sharlotte. The wedding was in Cornwall so we spent 2 nights away as its a long drive. We stayed at the wedding venue along with about 30 others and as the night before was self-catering I took a big pot of chilli to share which went down very well.
The day before that I made around 150 mini cupcakes for the wedding day so that was quite busy. The bride had requested matcha green tea cupcakes and left me to choose the variations, so I went with a drinks theme and made gin and tonic, mojito and espresso cupcakes as well.
Come the wedding day itself I decorated the cupcakes and helped my sister decorate the wedding cake before getting ready for the ceremony in the afternoon. The bottom tier consisted of my Pistachio and lime cake, the middle tier was a gluten-free chocolate cake and the top a lemon cake. The unusual decoration consisted of coloured edible pear wafers adapted to give them a green colour from a recipe I wrote while working on Something Sweet.
The day was rather fabulous. Michael is a chef and between the two of them they had planned a fabulous foodie feast for after the ceremony. Then it was dancing into the night and we all had a ball.
5 Cheese Please Recipes
And so to this weeks round up. The theme I spotted in last weeks link up was cheese with 5 delicious cheese recipes linked up, four savoury and one sweet. And as just about everyone loves cheese, that seemed a great theme for my roundup.
Roasted Brussels sprouts with grapes and feta
To kick off we have these rather unusual canapes from Looney for Food. I was intrigued by this unusual combination of ingredients but as Patrick describes "The roasted sprouts with a little sea salt are a stand-alone star, totally snack worthy. Add the grapes and Feta cheese and you’ve got a sweet and salty appetizer elegant enough for an Oscar Party. " Which sounds pretty good to me.
Crepes with Spinach and Cheese Filling
It's not too late to make these colourful crepes from Everyday Healthy Recipes. Using a combination of cottage cheese and cheddar these pancakes have lots of flavour and are low in fat.
Cavelo Nero and Sweetcorn Quesadillas
In need of a snack or light lunch try these Quesadillas from Curlys Cooking. These Cavolo Nero & Sweetcorn Quesadillas make a great lunch whether you eat them hot or cold.
Cheese Scones
When Apply to Face Blog reminded me how good a warm scone from the oven tastes, I was almost away from my desk and knocking up a batch of these lovely Cheese scones, but in the end, I thought I had better stay here and write this post. That doesn't mean I won't be tempted later.
Mango Cheesecake with Quark
Just about everyone knows I'm a sucker for desserts so I couldn't leave out this cheesecake from Searching for Spice. Quark is a low-fat fresh cheese and Corina has kept the sugar content low in this cheesecake so you can indulge in a healthier version of cheesecake than the average.

Making 150 cupcakes, no matter how small, in one day sounds pretty challenging! I love the look of that wedding cake, so beautiful and unusual. Thank you so much for featuring my pancakes this week and apologies for joining in so late. I can't believe it's Saturday already!
Rebecca - Glutarama
This was an exceptionally delicious looking round up...especially as I can't have cheese hahaha...I still enjoyed it though. Thank you for hosting this week, have a wonderful weekend xx

Jo Allison / Jo's Kitchen Larder
You've been a busy lady indeed Jacqui! It sounds like the wedding was absolutely fabulous and the cake looks stunning. I do like the sound of all the drinks themed cupcakes too! It looks like you had a proper food manufacturing line in your kitchen with these lol. Love the cheese theme this week too!
Jacqueline Bellefontaine
Thanks Jo The wedding was fabulous and it did feel a bit like a manufacturing line at times 🙂
Balvinder
No wonder you were so busy in the February. 150 cupcakes with icing is not an easy thing to do. And, that wedding cake, my goodness... it looks stunning with pear wafers. Do you have the Gluten free cake recipe on your blog?
Jacqueline Bellefontaine
Hi Balvinder I am afraid I do not have the gluten free cake on the blog. It was one my sister makes. I hall have to get it from her and add it at somepoint.
Michelle Frank | Flipped-Out Food
Oh, my—you HAVE been a busy woman!! I am all about cheese, so this roundup is making me hangry! Thanks for hosting!
Choclette
That wedding cake is spectacular. No wonder you were so busy. And I'm so impressed that the bride requested matcha cupcakes. I'm the only person I know that's ever made them. Lovely to hear about all these cakey happenings in my part of Cornwall.
Jacqueline Bellefontaine
The bride certainly likes her cake!
Cat | Curly's Cooking
Thank you for including my quesadillas 🙂 I too have been spending time working behind the scenes trying to make improvements to my blog. Is it just me or do they seem to be never ending?!
Your nephews wedding sounds lovely! I love the sound of the cakes you made.
Jacqueline Bellefontaine
Oh yes never ending for sure
Kate - Gluten Free Alchemist
My goodness.... you have been busy. 150 cupcakes you say and a chilli.... and..... Mind you, that cake looks fabulous. What a stunner! How were the green fruit pieces round the outside made? x
Jacqueline Bellefontaine
Thank you Kate. The pears were dipped in a coloured sugar syrup before being dried out in the oven. My orginal recipe had the syrup uncoloured and the pears half dipped in Chocolate. OMG they were good I really must share the recipe
Corina Blum
The wedding sounds lovely and such a gorgeous cake too - I love the pear decoration. I am also a huge fan of anything cheesy and Jenny's scones have reminded me of just how long it is since I had a cheese scone - I need to make some soon. Thank you also for including my quark cheesecake!
Jacqueline Bellefontaine
I dont actually like quite a few cheese in themselves but I do love cheese in cooking. You have to be very strange not to like it in some form.
Eb Gargano | Easy Peasy Foodie
Sounds like you had a fab time at the wedding - your mini cupcakes look AMAZING - love the flavours!! And I love the theme of this week's roundup - I am a huge cheese fan, so this one is perfect for me. All fab recipes, but my favourite has to be Monika's pancakes - such a lovely healthy twist on (usually very unhealthy) pancakes! Eb x
Jacqueline Bellefontaine
I'm a huge fan of savoury pancakes
